Advanced MRI for a New Specialist Veterinary Referral Hospital

QMS Veterinary supports Movement Referrals with a Canon 1.5T Vantage Elan MRI.

The Customer

Movement Referrals is an independent specialist veterinary referral provider focused on orthopaedics and neurology.

Its North West hospital was established to provide advanced referral care to veterinary practices across the region, bringing together experienced specialists, referral nurses and modern diagnostic and surgical facilities. The hospital includes advanced imaging alongside dedicated operating theatres and other specialist clinical facilities.

For a referral centre managing complex neurological, spinal and orthopaedic cases, access to high-quality diagnostic imaging is an important part of the clinical pathway.

The Requirement

As Movement Referrals prepared its new specialist hospital, the team required an MRI solution capable of supporting the demanding imaging requirements associated with a specialist referral caseload.

The system needed to complement a facility designed around advanced veterinary care and provide the imaging capability required by clinicians working across areas including neurology, spinal disease and orthopaedics.

QMS Veterinary was selected to support Movement Referrals with its MRI requirements and supplied the hospital with a Canon Vantage Elan 1.5T MRI scanner.

The Solution

The Canon Vantage Elan is a compact 1.5T MRI platform designed to combine high-quality imaging with speed, efficiency and economical operation.

For veterinary referral hospitals, the system is particularly well suited to advanced applications such as neurology, orthopaedics and musculoskeletal imaging. QMS Veterinary offers the Vantage Elan as part of its range of advanced MRI solutions for veterinary hospitals and referral centres.

QMS supplied and delivered the system to Movement Referrals and supported the team as it brought its MRI service into operation.

The project also brought together additional imaging expertise, with Movement Referrals publicly thanking QMS for the delivery and service of the unit, alongside veterinary radiography and Canon Medical technical support as image quality and the system were refined for clinical use.

Supporting Specialist Veterinary Imaging

The installation gave Movement Referrals high-field MRI capability within its new specialist hospital, supporting its focus on complex specialist cases.

For QMS Veterinary, the project demonstrates the importance of looking beyond the scanner itself. Advanced imaging projects require consideration of the equipment, the clinical applications, the site and installation requirements, workflow, ongoing technical support and the long-term performance of the system.

Today, QMS Veterinary supports veterinary practices, hospitals and referral centres across the UK with this wider approach, helping customers choose, plan, install, use and maintain advanced imaging equipment including MRI, CT, ultrasound, X-ray, C-arm and injector systems.

QMS were very quick at organising a repair and an identical machine so we could carry on working at the same levels with minimal disruption.

They also kept us updated and were clear in explaining their findings and analysis and were able to resolve the problem expertly.

They then delivered the repaired machine swiftly and with minimal interruption.

We can't thank QMS enough for this work and were very impressed with its delivery.
